K Blog 2017-2018, December 1st

Last week Ms. Ronquillo and I had the pleasure of meeting some of the kindergartner's grandparents, aunts, uncles and special friends. It was a lovely Generations Day, and our classroom was full to the seams with friends and loved ones. The K's and their special friends took part in some fall wreath creating,  and an extensive apple tasting with our gardening teacher Miss Fryke. I'v also included some pictures of the K's and their first experience with interviewing others. We found out who likes pumpkin pie, who likes apple pie, and who enjoys having turkey! What's Happening In K? Readers Workshop The kindergarteners were introduced to shopping for  "just right" books. We read many books about turkeys and Thanksgiving.  Students illustrated the poem "The Turkey and The Pumpkin." We learned that we are super readers and that one of our powers is pointer power. K Blog 2017-2018, November 15th

The holiday season is fast approaching, and I can tell you from experience that there is no better place to be than in a classroom.  The weather is changing, but our classroom remains warm and comfortable.  The light fades earlier in the day, but the magic of celebrating our communities different cultures and holidays keeps our space bright and beautiful. Last month we had the pleasure of celebrating Diwali with the kindergartners.  Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated every year in autumn in the northern hemisphere. We look forward to exploring all of the different traditions of our students, and invite you to share your traditions with us during this beautiful season.  Whats happening in K?
