Hi Parents! As we continue our learning journey together here in kindergarten, there is so much room for discovery. Some K's are discovering new friendships, some are exploring new and interesting topics, and some of our students are discovering that they CAN do all of those things that felt unreachable before. Wether it's on the yard, and skipping a monkey bar for the first time, or in the classroom and successfully reading a book that was just out of reach a few short weeks ago, all of these events are celebration worthy. Whats happening in K? Math  We learned how to use a number rack or rekenrek. We learned how to use the words "more" and "less" to compare 2 quantities. We used pumpkins to practice graphing, addition, and patterns. Social Studies We learned why leaves change colors in the fall. We made leaf rubbings. We also learned how to use our "brain filter." Just because we think it, doesn't mean we should always ...

Fall is here and changes are happening everywhere! The kindergartners are participating in some guided discovery around these changes and exploring what they mean for the weather, and their school lives. We have begun a continuing discussion on the colors of fall, and why the leaves on trees change their colors in this season. We also have a new calendar theme this month centered around fallleaves, so be sure to ask your kindergartner about it! Reminders: We have our first class field trip on Friday the 27th of October. Remember to fill out the permissions form on the parent portal, and indicate wether you are willing to drive. Our Halloween Festival is the 31st of October. Costumes are optional, but traditionally, most students dress for the festivities.   And now a few words from our specialists... Specialist Spotlight Kindergarten Music - 10/15/2017 The Kindergarteners are quickly learning the ropes in music class! I get to see them three times a week...

Hi all,     The kindergartners have been very busy over the last few weeks.  We have met our third grade buddies, finished the mural, and taken in the first Performance Of Understanding of the year, a great adaptation of the book "The Wild Robot" preformed by the fifth grade class. So many activities can be, at times, overwhelming, but our students have taken it all in with grace and wide eyed excitement. A few house keeping items: Please be sure to write your child's name on water bottles, lunch boxes, and jackets, as we have had a high frequency of lost items in the last month.  Library books should be returned by two weeks after the date they are borrowed.  There are no late fees, but you kindergartner will not be allowed to check out further books until they are returned.  Thanks Everyone! Enjoy the pics! Ryan McWilliams
