K Blog 2017- 2018, December 15th

As we complete our final week of 2017 at Black Pine Circle, our school shines brightly with the glow of love and good will. The kindergartners have shared some of their favorite holiday traditions, explored holidays around the world, and helped to create an eclectic tapestry of compassion, empathy and beauty that settles over all who enter. It truly is the most beautiful place to be around this time of year. Whats New In K? Reading Letters: F, G, H  Popcorn Words: this, will, to, go  The K's learned to use the following strategies for reading: Stretchy Snake- stretching out the word. Eagle Eye- looking at pictures for context clues. Lips the Fish- find the first sound. We read books about winter holidays, including Kwanzaa, Christmas and Hanukkah. Writers Workshop Our students learned how to stretch out words and listen for familiar letter sounds.
